Results
  • The analysis of the funerary data
    • Eleni Milka (PhD candidate, University of Groningen) has completed the chapters on Lerna, Aspis, Asine, Argos and Myloi. She has presented her results in talks in Leiden, Groningen, Sheffield (TAG) and Montreal (AIA). Preliminary reports on her research can be found in Pharos 2003, Pharos 2004, Pharos 2005. Some first conclusions are presented in SOJA Bundel 2005, and in her paper in the Proceedings of the MESOHELLADIKA conference. She will present the results of her comparative analysis at the One-Day Conference (19 December 2007).
    • Popi Sarri has finished the study of the MH pottery and small finds from the Argos ‘tumuli’. She is now writing up the chapter on the MH finds, which will be included in the final publication of the material from the Argos ‘tumuli’. She will present some first results of her pottery seriation at the One-Day Conference (19 December 2007).
    • Popi Sarri is now studying the diaries from Deilaki’s rescue excavations in the Argos ‘tumuli’.
    • Sofia Voutsaki has finished the study of the Mycenaean pottery and small finds from the Argos ‘tumuli’. The chapter on these finds will be ready in spring 2008.

  • The analysis of settlement data
    • The examination of the settlement data by S. Voutsaki is now in progress. Some first observations were presented at the MESOHELLADIKA conference, and will be published in the Proceedings of the conference. A more extensive article is in preparation. The results of the analysis of the data from Asine and Lerna will also be presented at the One-Day Conference, on 19 December 2007.
    • Sofia Voutsaki will consult the Lerna Archive, held at the American Scholl of Classical Studies, in December 2007 in order to gather more information on economic activities in the Lerna houses.

  • The osteological analysis
    • The re-examination of the Lerna skeletons has been completed, and the analysis of the data is now under way. The first results have been presented by S. Triantaphyllou in talks in Nauplion, at the AIA in Montreal and at the MESOHELLADIKA conference. A comparative analysis of the human remains from Lerna, Argos and Mycenae will be presented at the One-Day Conference on 19 December 2007.
      The final monograph on the Lerna human remains will be submitted for publication in early 2008.
    • The re-examination of the Asine skeletons has been completed, and the analysis of the data is now under way. Some first results have been presented by A. Ingvarsson-Sundström at the MESOHELLADIKA conference, and will be published in the Proceedings of the Conference. A. Ingvarsson-Sundström will also make a presentation at the One-Day Conference, 19 December 2007. The final monograph will be submitted for publication at the beginning of 2008.
    • The analysis of the skeletons from the Argos ‘tumuli’ by S. Triantaphyllou has been completed. The publication will be ready in spring 2008, and will be part of the final publication of the material from the ‘tumuli’.
    • The re-examination of the skeletons from the Prehistoric Cemetery at Mycenae and the Grave Circle B at Mycenae by S. Triantaphyllou has been completed. The final report will be prepared in early 2008. Some first observations are included in the paper published in the Proceedings of the MESOHELLADIKA conference; a fuller presentation will be given during the One-Day Conference on 19 December 2007.
    • A. Ingvarsson-Sundström has examined the MH skeletons from both the Swedish and the Greek sector of the excavations in Midea.

  • The radiocarbon analysis
    • The 14C data from Lerna have been presented by S. Voutsaki, A.J. Nijboer and C. Zerner at the MESOHELLADIKA conference and at a conference in honour of Peter I. Kuniholm held at Cornell University.
      A brief report on the methodology can be found in Pharos 2004.
      A short report will appear in Pharos 2005.
      The final publication will be submitted to Hesperia in early 2008.
    • The 14C data from Aspis have come out. Out of the 7 skeletons sampled, only 4 have produced useful results, as some of the skeletons had been treated with a consolidant. The final report has been submitted to the Bulletin de Correspondance Hellenique.
    • The 14C data from Asine (East Cemetery, Barbouna) have come out.
      The final report is now in preparation; it will be published in Opuscula Atheniensia.
    • We plan to take more samples from the Argos ‘tumuli’.

  • The analysis of stable isotopes
    • The results from Lerna have come out. The final report has been submitted.
    • The results from Aspis have come out. The final report has been submitted to Bulletin de Correspondance Hellenique.
    • The analysis of the samples from Asine is now under way.
    • We plan to take more samples from the Prehistoric Cemetery at Mycenae and the Argos ‘tumuli’.

  • The aDNA analysis
    • The DNA results from the pilot analysis of 12 Lerna skeletons have exceeded our expectations: the analysis had a very high success rate in isolating, repairing and amplifying nuclear DNA.
      The results have been presented at the MESOHELLADIKA conference by S. Kouidou-Andreou, L. Kovatsi, D. Nikou, S. Triantaphyllou, C. Zerner, S. Voutsaki; a first report will be published in the Proceedings of the Conference. The final report has been submitted.
    • • The aDNA analysis from Asine and Aspis is currently under way.
    • We plan to take more samples from the Argos ‘tumuli’ and the Prehistoric Cemetery at Mycenae.

  • The publication of the finds from the Argos ‘tumuli’
    • The study of the finds has been completed.
    • The osteological examination of the extant skeletons has been completed.
    • The study of the MH pottery and small finds is currently under way.
    • The study of the LH pottery and small finds is currently under way.
    • The study of the Deilaki diaries has finished.
    • The study of the Deilaki archive has finished. The information is now being classified into a Project Archive.
    • The Photographic Archive of the Nauplion Ephorate has been studied.
